Worker complains about burnouts

A Bowmanstown employee is concerned by the number of burnouts he’s witnessed on borough roadways.

Wastewater treatment plant operator Chris Bixler told borough council last week that not only is it a safety concern, but also reckless driving.

Mayor Zach Snyder said state police do their best to assist, but are short-staffed.

“The problem with state police is staffing, not a lack of effort,” Snyder said. “They’re receptive, but they’re working with what they can.”

Bixler said the issue of burnouts is borough-wide.

In March, council fielded concerns from residents about speeding in the borough.

That came after Bixler said in January that speeding was an issue throughout the borough.

Snyder noted at that time that staffing with state police was limited.
