Northern Lehigh’s Amorim earns East MVP honors

Northern Lehigh’s Trevor Amorim not only had a chance to play in this year’s Small School East-West all-star game over the Memorial Day weekend, but he also earned his team’s MVP honors.

Amorim, a key member of the Bulldogs’ District 11 championship squad this past season, scored both of the East’s two touchdowns during the West’s 49-14 victory.

His first score, which came in the first quarter and tied the game at 7-7, came on a 69-yard reception from North Schuylkill’s Jake Hall. The two also hooked up in the fourth quarter on a 15-yard touchdown strike.

Amorim finished with four catches for 93 yards and the two scores. He also carried the ball four times for 21 yards, and returned a kickoff for 24 yards.

Three of Amorim’s high school teammates also participated in the contest.

Quarterback Dylan Smoyer completed the only pass he threw for 10 yards, and also ran two times for eight yards. On defense, Matt Frame registered three tackles while Brett Misera had one.
