Penn Forest Township’s supervisors created a new a full-time working foreman position for the roads crew at a special meeting held May 16. It was agreed that the position would be posted on the union board, and if there are no takers, it would then be advertised. Pay is $23 an hour to start with a raise with good performance after three months.
Hopes to add a pump track feature to the township park took a big first step with supervisors accepting Barry Isett & Associates’ prices for engineering work and bid phase work, $9,900. An earlier price came in $6,100 higher, so the work has been pared down.
Supervisors bought a 2022 Honda Pioneer 700 UTV from R&D Powersports of Palmerton to use at the township park to drag fields, haul materials and carry a water tank. The golf cart now in use couldn’t do these things. Cost for the UTV is $12,860, plus extra for smooth tires that were to be special ordered. Delivery is expected the second week in June.
The maintenance agreement for the Rital plan to add gasoline pumps at Sunny’s Quick Mart on Route 534 was approved. New pumps and gasoline tanks are to get installed this summer.
Due to the need for more space on township servers, it was proposed to delete the oldest of the Zoom videos after the meetings have been transcribed. Supervisor Christian Bartulovich opposed this. He was the sole vote against doing the deletion as needed with Roger Meckes, Scott Lignore and Pat Holland voting yes. Tom Cross was absent.
Supervisors agreed unanimously to send all members of the township road and transfer station crews for flagger training on June 16, at a cost of $50 each.
For the transfer station, the salt shed building design has arrived.
