Lehighton’s Second Saturday to have activities for families
An all-day experience promoting its downtown is on tap this Saturday in Lehighton.
It’s all part of Lehighton’s Second Saturday, which features various activities for families to partake in.
Visitors can start their day at the Lehighton Downtown Farmers Market, where from 9 a.m. to noon there will be the opportunity to make kites for the children.
There will also be specialty-themed items for sale, live music, face painting and a strolling spit-spot supercalifragilisticexpialidocious nanny for photo opportunities.
Visitors can also learn the answer to “What do you get when you feed the birds?” at 2 p.m., and may sign up for the Sidewalk Chalk Competition, which they will have until 6 p.m. to complete. Special prizes will be awarded by age category.
From there, they can then head to First Street businesses to experience more spit-spot supercalifragilisticexpialidocious nanny-themed fun.
Jokers Are Wild Game Cafe will offer Chim Chiminey Churros, Pinnacle Grooming will offer 20% off an in-store item, and many businesses will offer more fun experiences and items.
Zion Opera Workshop will be on hand with a sing-along at 8 p.m. at the amphitheater, where the winners of the Sidewalk Chalk Competition will be announced before the showing of a Movie in the Park.
Second Saturday is a day to “show your love for Lehighton,” according to Lehighton Main Street Manager Bambi Elsasser.
“Support Lehighton businesses by shopping with an independent retailer, eating at a local restaurant, supporting local artists and exploring Downtown Lehighton,” Elsasser said.
“Where you spend your money matters. Whether you’ve lived here for years, or you’re a first-time visitor, Second Saturdays are a great time to discover something new about our lovely downtown.”
