Tamaqua police log

• Tamaqua police cited Joan Belford-Blevins, 37, of Tamaqua, with disorderly conduct after she took a dip in the fountain at Depot Square Park in Tamaqua.

Police received a report of a woman swimming in the fountain at 12:07 p.m. May 12 and watched footage from a department surveillance camera in the area. Police said Belford-Blevins was standing at the fountain and appeared soaking wet.

Officers located Belford-Blevins in the area of Berwick and Rowe streets and asked why she was in the fountain. Police said she told them she had rinsed her arms even though officers noticed that her body and hair were wet. When told that witnesses had spotted her, she admitted to the act and said she would not do it again.

• A Tamaqua woman wanted on an active warrant was taken into custody May 13 by Tamaqua police.

When police located the woman, Jade Jean Belford, 36, sitting near the Little Schuylkill River on Cedar Street, she had 2.7 grams of methamphetamine, along with a syringe and smoking pipe in her purse.

She was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia,

Belford was arraigned before District Judge Edward Tarantelli, of Frackville, and committed to the Schuylkill County prison on $5,000 percentage bail.
