Weissport’s Zoning Hearing Board last night granted a variance for the opening of a survival supply store on Franklin Street in the borough.

The variance was granted to Cathy and Gene Kerschner, who will convert a two-car garage on the property at 246 Franklin St. into a store. Kerschner said it is anticipated the store will open during the first week of June.

Cathy said the store would sell such things as survival equipment, emergency medical equipment and camping and hunting gear. She stressed no guns would be sold.
