Tamaqua-NDES

A big game from the top of the order - along with a strong effort from Tommy Case on the mound - lifted Tamaqua to an 8-1 non-league victory over Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg.

The first three hitters in the Blue Raider lineup combined to go 8-for-11 with six RBIs, while Case went the distance and finished with a five-hitter.

Lucas Kamant led the winners offensively with an RBI triple and a three-run homer. He also scored three times. Wyatt Steigerwalt and Mason Moyer both ended with three hits and an RBI.

Case walked just two and struck out nine to help Tamaqua improve to 4-15 - including 3-2 over its last five games.

The Raiders also received a hit and a run from Chase Andrews, with Gianni Valentine adding a pair of runs.

After a one-out walk to Ulsh and a sacrifice bunt, Cole singled to center to deliver the game-winning run.

The Olympians - who had tied the game in the seventh to force extra innings - nearly scored in the top of the eighth on Tanner Yurchak’s base hit, but the Vikings threw out a runner at the plate.

Yurchak had three hits in the contest, which was the completion of a suspended game, while Nik Schwartz finished with two. Thorpe’s Jack Edwards added a hit and two RBIs. James Lordi reached base three times on a hit and two walks, and also scored a run.

The gap between the start of the game and Tuesday’s resumption allowed Williams Valley Shadle to throw all eight innings and finish with 120 pitches. He walked five and struck out eight.

The loss ended the Olympians’ regular season with a 10-10 record, while the Vikings closed at 7-13.
