A New York resident has been charged with retail theft for an incident at a Monroe County business.

State police at Fern Ridge said about 1 p.m. on Jan. 28 troopers were called to Kinsley's Shop Rite, in Chestnuthill Township, for a reported theft.Troopers said Michael Anthony Shanks, 43, of Brooklyn, allegedly attempted to remove $139.22 with of merchandise from the store without paying for it.
