Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Mayor Don Herrmann announced that the police department’s Bike Patrol is expected to be up and running by mid-May.

• Announced that council is looking to develop an ordinance that would establish a fee for excessive false alarms that occur in all areas of town.

• Approved the first reading of an ordinance amending vehicles and traffic - handicapped parking requests.

• Approved the first reading of an ordinance amending vehicles and traffic - unlicensed/uninspected vehicles.

• Hired Cindy Roberts as a custodian at the rate of $11.97 an hour.
