A Berks County driver was slightly injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 3:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, along Cold Run Road, in East Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Katherine Kirkland, 26, of Hamburg, was operating a 2001 Mitsubishi southbound when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The car went onto the berm and struck a tree on an embankment.The vehicle then crossed over both lanes of travel and sideswiped the steel ribbon guide rail on the west side of the road.Kirkland told troopers she momentarily was blinded by the sun and after her vehicle left the road she apparently over-reacted and lost control. Kirkland complained of a minor injury but declined medical attention, troopers added.Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the Tamaqua Rescue Squad and ambulance.
