Jim Thorpe's Derek Scott will be continuing his academic and athletic career at Moravian College in the fall.

Scott plans on playing on both the football and track and field teams at Moravian.A four-year varsity member of both teams as an Olympian, he was a guard and defensive tackle in football, and threw the discus and shot put as a member of the track and field squad.Scott, who was a captain on Jim Thorpe's football team, was the school's scholar-athlete and a Times News All-Star offensive lineman.The son of Jeff and Kelly Scott, Derek is also on the Jim Thorpe powerlifting team, and a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, and SADD.Scott plans on majoring in mechanical engineering/physics.
