Lehighton Area School District’s board of directors approved the following hires during Monday night’s meeting:

• Stephanie Gustafson, middle school art teacher, effective April 26, with annual salary of $45,000. Gustafson had previously been a long-term remediation substitute for the middle school.

• Shawn Fronheiser, part-time cleaner, effective April 26 with an hourly rate of $9.82.

• Warren Malick, day shift custodian, effective May 31, with an annual salary of $27,056.

• Bradley Akers, evening utility custodian, effective May 9, with an annual salary of $31,070.

• Kenneth Eck, evening custodian, effective May 2, with an annual salary of $25,569.

• Marilynn Ruch, custodian, effective April 19 with an annual salary of $25,569.

• Sandra Hedmeck, evening custodian, effective May 23 with an annual salary of $25,569.

Two current employees were also given additional assignments Monday. Kali Andrew was named department head for pupil services, effective April 26, at a stipend of $1,300. Michael Palinchak was named lead building custodian, effective June 1, at a stipend of $1,700, prorated for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year. The stipend will increase to $1,900 for the 2022-23 school year.

Mary Boaz was added to Lehighton’s substitute list at $90 per day.
