The Tamaqua Senior Citizens held its annual Christmas party on Dec. 8 with 64 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker conducted the business session.A and C Catering provided the food and Melody Weicker, president, provided poinsettia plants for each of the officers.The Dec. 15 meeting will include the celebration of November and December birthdays. Brown bag lunches will begin on Dec. 29.The Dec. 22 meeting has been canceled. Also, with the winter months looming, members are reminded that if conditions call for schools to be closed on a meeting day, that day's meeting will be canceled.The group is open to anyone 55 or older. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. Thursdays, at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.Rush-Ryan seniorsThe Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. held its annual Christmas party at Capriotti's in McAdoo on Dec. 6. Welcoming remarks were offered by president Bill Morrison. Ruthann Feane offered the invocation, titled "The Greatest Gift."The group thanked a number of area businesses that provided gift cards for the party: Marie's Lunch, McDonald's, Two Kings Pizza, the Beacon Diner, Ryan Township Fire Company and the Hometown Pharmacy. Shirley Becker donated poinsettia plants which were used as centerpieces. Also thanked for their donations were President Morrison and Gloria Gerhard.
