A Schuylkill County man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Monday about 1:33 p.m. along the Burma Road in Ryan Township.

State police at Frackville identified the victim as Paul A. Winans, 54, of Mahanoy City.According to troopers Winans was operating a 2009 Chevrolet HHR southbound behind a 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by Mary F. Clickner, 54, of Mahanoy City. Winans attempted to pass Clickner in a passnig zone. As he attempted to pass his HHR sideswiped the Dakota.After impact Winans lost control with the HHR went onto the east berm and collided into a tree. After that impact the HHR began to spin counter-clockwise and came to rest facing west about five feet east of the road.Winans was pronounced dead at the scene by county deputy coroner David Truscowsky, of Mahanoy City.Clickner and her passenger, Daniel Dansavage, 57, also of Mahanoy City, were not injured.Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the Ryan Township and Mahanoy City ambulance corps, Citizens and West End fire companies of Mahanoy City, and fire police from Hometown and Saint Clair.A state police accident reconstruction and record and identification unit was also on scene.
