State police at Lehighton report on DUI, harrassment
State police at Lehighton reported on the following incidents:
• On Feb. 27 at 2:15 a.m. troopers attempted to make a traffic stop of a vehicle along Third Street at Franklin Avenue in Palmerton. The driver fled the scene and a pursuit ensued. Troopers successfully used the precision immobilization technique to stop the vehicle. The drive was identified as Yauheni Lupachyk, 31, of Lincoln Park, New Jersey.
Troopers said he was taken into custody and charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police and other counts. The vehicle was seized for further investigation, police added.
• Sarah Sherer, 40, of Palmerton, has been charged with harassment - physical contact, for an incident on April 3 at 3:18 p.m. along Harrity Road in Parryville. At the time and location stated Sherer was intoxicated and pushed a 14-year-old girl. No injuries were reported.
• On March 26 at 2:08 a.m. troopers stopped a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer along Silver Springs Boulevard in Eldred Township, Monroe County, for a motor vehicle code violation. The driver, a 32-year-old man from Kunkletown, who troopers declined to identify, was found to be driving under the influence of a controlled substance and also found in possession of a controlled substance.
• On April 4 at 5:02 p.m. troopers stopped a 2003 Volkswagen Passat at Alpine Drive and Hideaway Hill Road, in Polk Township, Monroe County, for a traffic violation. The driver, a 18-year-old man from Kunkletown, who troopers declined to identify, was found to be DUI of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
• On April 4 at 2:02 a.m. troopers stopped a 1996 Chevrolet at Route 248 and Lehigh Drive in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. The driver, a 28-year-old man from Palmerton, who troopers declined to identify, was found to be DUI of a controlled substance. He refused a test. Charges will be filed, troopers said.
On April 2 at 7:09 p.m. troopers stopped a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant at Bankway and Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Boulevard in Lehighton for a traffic violation. The driver, a 47-year-old man from Allentown, who troopers declined to identify, was found to be DUI of a controlled substance and taken into custody and transported for a blood drawn. Charges are pending the test results.
