Jim Thorpe Borough is accepting letters of interest for a vacant council seat.

Councilman Thomas Highland passed away last Friday, several months into his third term in office.

The open term runs from the date of appointment until the first Monday in January 2024.

Applicants must be a registered elector of the borough, and must have resided in the borough continuously for at least the last year.

Interested applicants can submit letters of interest, including relevant experience, qualifications and/or knowledge, to Borough Manager Maureen Sterner, 101 E. 10th St., Jim Thorpe, PA 18229.

Letters of interest will be accepted until noon on April 12.
