Route 209 between Tamaqua and Coaldale was closed to traffic Tuesday evening as area firefighters battled a brush fire. The fire was reported at 6:30 p.m. on the Number Eleven Hill between the roadway and the mines. Fire companies from Coaldale, Tamaqua and Lansford responded, with area fire police shutting down the roadway.
