The treasurer of the Panther Valley School Board resigned from his seat on the board before its regularly scheduled meeting last week.
While the board named a new treasurer to replace John Williams, they will work over the next three weeks to find a new school board director.Williams, who was absent from Thursday's meeting, submitted his resignation May 10. He did not specify a reason in the letter.Appointed to the board in 2013, and elected to a four-year seat later that year, Williams would have been up for re-election next year.The board voted Thursday night to appoint school board member Wayne Gryzik as its new treasurer.A special meeting has been set for June 9 at 6 p.m. to review applications letters of interest and pick a new director.Candidates interested in filling the seat can now submit letters of intention to the board, according to a legal notice from the district. Letters should explain why the candidate would like to serve as a school director, as well as any qualifications and experiences that might benefit the board and the district.Letters can be submitted to the Panther Valley Business Office, Panther Valley School District, 1 Panther Way, Lansford, PA 18232.
