Franklin fire company to host first Outdoor Adventure Day

The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company will host its first-ever Outdoor Adventure Day from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Smokey Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog will be on hand.

There will also be s’mores, fire-roasted hot dogs, funnel cakes, Hoff’s Kettle Korn, made-to-order sundaes, homemade chicken potpie, chili, halushki, and filling from the ladies of the Franklin Township Fire Company Auxiliary. French fries, pierogies, soft drinks, tea and coffee will also be available.

The Carbon County Environmental Education Center, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, Jim Thorpe River Adventures and Bronson Ebikes & Trikes will have displays.

Weather permitting, attendees will have the chance to meet the flight crew of Lehigh Valley Health Network’s medevac and see the helicopter up close and personal.

Kids will be able to escape the “house on fire,” make bird feeders, try their luck at a special kid’s raffle, and enter various contests, competitions and hands-on learning experiences.

DJ Monroe Berger will play tunes and help with announcements.

There will be opportunities to win items though door prizes, raffles and silent auction. Prizes include:

• A rare, reconditioned 20-inch Stingray Jesse James West Coast Chopper edition ebike donated by Bronson Ebikes & Trikes from Allentown and valued at $400.
