Carbon County commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners approved the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday.
• Approved a lease agreement with Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau of Stroudsburg for leasing of the office area inside the train station in Jim Thorpe. The area is used for tourist promotion, travel information and other related services. The agreement calls for an annual rental of $26,699.28 and will be adjusted in 2023 based on the Consumer Price Index for 2022.
• The Carbon County Railroad Commission meeting slated for Tuesday has been canceled due to the commissioners being at a conference.
• Commissioner Rocky Ahner announced donations for the shelter, including $100 from Pencor employees, $320 from Lehighton Area Elementary and Middle School and the Weatherly Area students made heavy duty soft blankets for the dogs.
• Ahner also reported that the election office has processed 1,351 mail-in and absentee applications and noted that the application deadline is May 10.

• Resignations: Alyssa M. Albertson of Berwick, corrections officer, effective Feb. 25; and Alfred L. Hauptly of Schuylkill Haven, corrections officer, effective March 19.
• Employment separation: Rebecca B. Sinclair of Albrightsville, corrections officer, effective March 16.
• Hire as recommended by department supervisors: Mark A Cuth of Danielsville, TANF and WIOA coordinator, PCWDA, effective March 21; and William Bamford of Nesquehoning, part-time K-9 officer, animal shelter, effective March 21.
• Prison board appointments: James E. Osborne of Weissport, corrections officer, effective March 14; Donald J. Tucker of Brodheadsville, corrections officer, effective March 21; and Robert J. Rakowski of Nanticoke, corrections officer, effective April 4.

• Clerk of courts appointment: Jamie L. Turner of Tamaqua, clerical specialist, effective March 17.
• Clerk of courts resignation: Alexandra Wall of Lake Harmony, deputy clerk, effective March 9.
