The Lower Towamensing Township supervisors did not select anyone Monday night for the open seat.
Brent Green, the chairman of the supervisors, said that he and Supervisor Connie Brown did not support the same candidate. Green said he made a motion to appoint former supervisor Jay Mullikin to the position, but Brown did not second his motion.
Mullikin had been appointed to the seat after Supervisor Jesse Mendez passed away. When his term ended, Mullikin ran for the seat, but lost by one vote during the primary election to Terry Kuehner. Kuehner went on to win the seat in the general election, but had to resign in January, due to felony convictions.
Brown made a motion to appoint Dwight Hawk to the seat, but Green didn’t second her motion.
The matter now moves to a vacancy board to appoint a replacement, but it is uncertain when that will happen.
“We are not sure if the meeting will be after our Board of Supervisors meeting next month,” Green said.
