State police at Lehighton reported a one-vehicle crash at 9:50 p.m. on March 9 along Evergreen Court in Ross Township, Monroe County, with the driver fleeing the scene.
Troopers said Elizabeth A. Todaro, 54, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2015 Audi A4 westbound at a high rate of speed and lost control on a left hand curve in the road. The vehicle went onto the west shoulder and hit a tree with the front end. Todaro then fled the scene, troopers said.
During the investigation troopers said they learned that Todaro had been consuming alcohol before the crash. She displayed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Given a breath test, the result showed a 0.217 BAC. Troopers said the suspect’s 15-year-old daughter was a front seat passenger.
There were no injuries reported. Damages were termed heavy to the front end of the vehicle, which was towed.
