A Schuylkill County man was injured when he crashed his moped scooter.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Gerald R. Vandermeer, 68, of Schuylkill Haven, was operating a Wildfire moped along SR61 in North Manheim Township, about 5:23 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, when he began to slow down to make a right hand turn into an alley. Vandermeer grabbed the front brake too hard which caused him to be thrown over the handle bars.Vandermeer sustained a moderate injury and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville.
