Carbon County commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners acted on or discussed the following items during their weekly meeting last Thursday.
• Approved a quote from Phoenix Graphics Inc. of Rochester, New York, for the printing of Election Day ballots, provisionals, sample ballots and mailing services of absentee/mail-in ballots for the 2022 primary and general election. The total estimated cost is $39,028.
• Approved an extension to the agreement with Computer Aid Inc. of Allentown, to provide consulting relative to the review of child protective services reports and files to the Children and Youth Services. The extension changes the agreement expiration date to June 30, 2022.
• Ratified an agreement with Nearmap US Inc. of South Jordan, Utah, to provide 3-inch resolution aerial imagery at a cost of $12,000. This is approved through the statewide interconnectivity fund for Carbon County’s NG911 project.
• Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein reported that the county is down six Children and Youth caseworkers, which puts a hardship on the department. He noted that this is a statewide problem and not just a county problem.
Because of this, the commissioners had authorized additional overtime for the department because they cannot keep up with the caseloads.
“They are getting stressed out and the more people that resign or move on, it just creates more of a hardship on all the other employees,” he said. “They are doing the best they can and working hard and I applaud them for that.”
