Nesquehoning Borough Council

Nesquehoning Borough Council acted on the following items during its monthly meeting on Wednesday.

• Discussed a bridge inspection report of the four bridges in the borough. One bridge, located along Mermon Avenue, needs repair to the abutment joint plate at the right sidewalk. Other repairs that are needed on the other three bridges include painting, replacing guiderail, resealing deck joints, filling cracks and construct rock protection.

• Mayor Tom Kattner reported that a resident complaint of their neighbor allowing their dogs to use the deck as their personal bathroom has been resolved by the landlord of the property. The issue had originally been posted on Facebook.

• Nesquehoning Emergency Management coordinator John McArdle reminded council that the elected official seminar at the Carbon County EMA is scheduled for Monday and urged the borough to have representation at the meeting.

• Approved sending a funding difference letter to Carbon County for the Community Development Block Grant project for repaving one block of Diaz Avenue. The letter states that if the bid comes in higher than the grant amount, the borough would pay for the difference.

• Adopted a Local Share Account grant resolution for Johnson Park repairs.

• Approved the reappointments of Susanne Semuta and Pam Zlock to the recreation commission.
