Weissport addresses zoning issues

Tim Dow from Barry Isett & Associates addressed the Weissport Borough Council regarding zoning issues within the borough.

Regarding short-term rentals, at some point, people operating a short-term rental property would need to register with the borough.

Borough Solicitor Greg Mousseau had proposed an amendment to the zoning ordinance to define and regulate short-term rentals in the past. Dow will meet with Mousseau to plan the course of action on dealing with short-term rentals in the borough.

Dow also noted that there are two White Street properties that will be receiving nontraffic citations after no response from letters sent to them.

“They received two letters, and we’ve had no action on either one of them,” Dow advised council. “The properties need to be cleaned up, and there has been no resolution to an issue with water discharge from a washer. Nothing has come back, so those are violations that will be cited and filed.”

Citations will be filed with the Magistrate’s office in Jim Thorpe.
