The Monroe County Commissioners acted on the following items during their last meeting.
• Ratified a bid for the 2022-2024 Bridge Deck Cleaning/Vegetation Control. One bid received from DeAngelo Contracting Services LLC, $159,000.
• Approved requests from the Sheriff’s Office to work additional hours. Deputies reported 11.75 hours; Clerks reported 1 hour; and Security reported 52.50 hours.
• Reappointed Commissioners Sharon S. Laverdure, John R. Moyer and John D. Christy; Dr. Peter Casale; and Robert Shebelsky to the Pleasant Valley Manor board of trustees for 2022.
• Monroe County Hospital Authority are: Robert Weseloh and Gail Dunkleberger until Feb. 1, 2025; John Boylan to Feb. 14, 2026; attorney Lori Cerato, Feb. 2 to 2026 (replacing Rose Schwedler); Janet Weidensaul Feb. 1, 2022 (replacing Charles Garris).
• Certification of County Funds for the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program in the amount of $50,007 for the Monroe County Planning Commission.
Funds will be used to help protect some of the most threatened national land resources endangered, such as wetlands and grasslands by encroaching development and extreme weather events as well as productive farmland.
The ACEP helps to protect these vital lands by enabling private landowners, land trusts, and other entities to preserve working farms and ranches and restore, protect, and enhance wetlands and grasslands through long-term easements.
