The Rush Township Board of Supervisors on Monday adopted three resolutions setting garbage and sewer fees for the Rush Township, and for Lake Hauto and Hometown.

Resolution 2022-11 sets Rush Township garbage and recycling collection and disposal fees at $16.17/month, to be collected on an annual basis at $194.

Residents are limited to five garbage bags per pickup and one large item per month, not to include tires, batteries, motor oil, “white” appliances, electronics, tree branches, and leaves.

Resolution 2022-09 sets Lake Hauto sewer collection and disposal fee at $48/month, to be collected on a quarterly basis.

Resolution 2022-10 sets the Hometown sewer collection and disposal fee at $59.34/month, to be collected on a quarterly basis.

For all three areas, a penalty of $50 will be assessed against any nonpaying party, plus an additional administrative service fee of 1.5% per month for each month the bill remains unpaid. All three resolutions are in effect as of Feb. 17.

Police report

For the month of January, Rush Township Police handled 28 incidents and complaints. These included five ambulance assists, one suspicious person, one domestic dispute, one civil dispute, two assist other agency, two warrant services, 13 parking tickets, and two traffic arrests.

Other business

• Motion to hire Mary Beth Elias as a part-time officer at $21/hour.

• Motion to hire Kristin Woleslagle as a full-time Hometown Sewer/Lake Hauto Sewer/Solid Waste Administrator in the billing department. Woleslagle had been working part-time and will now become full-time employee.

• Motion to purchase a Tilt-Deck Trailer at a cost of $9,200.

• Motion to advertise the 2022 Ryan Avenue Road Project for bids. Details on the project will be released at a later date.

Chicken dinner

The Hometown Fire Company will hold a drive-thru chicken barbecue dinner on March 5 beginning a 11 a.m. until they sell out at the fire company at 54 Mahoney Ave., Tamaqua.

Platters include half a chicken, baked potato, green beans, coleslaw, bread and choice of dessert.
