State police at Schuylkill Haven - Crashes
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers in Schuylkill County:
A two-vehicle crash was reported at 2:52 p.m. on Feb. 3 along Route 61 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Arthur A. Needham, 46, of Shenandoah, and Tyrone Finklea, 38, of Bloomsburg, were both northbound when both had to apply their brakes due to a backup of traffic ahead of them due to a crash.
Both came to a stop, however, the load on Needham’s International Harvester truck-trailer shifted, causing the trailer portion to drift backward and hit the front of Finklea’s vehicle. The radiator on the vehicle was punctured and it had to be towed.
No one was injured.
A one-vehicle crash was reported at 12:14 a.m. on Jan. 25 along Route 443 in Pine Grove Township, in which the driver is facing driving under the influence charge. Troopers said Kayla R. Brantlecht, 28, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2011 Mazda 3 eastbound and attempting to negotiate a right curve when the vehicle went onto the berm and struck an upraised concrete bridge railing.
Brantlecht sustained suspected minor injuries and was taken to Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg. The vehicle had to be towed.
Troopers said a DUI charge is pending.
• A hit-and run crash is being investigated. Troopers said Artisan R. La Chere, 75, of New Ringgold, had pulled his 2011 Cadillac SRX onto the shoulder of Route 61 in West Brunswick Township, at 5:06 a.m. on Feb. 5 because the vehicle had run out of gas. La Chere went back to his residence to get a gas can. Upon returning he found his vehicle had been sideswiped by another vehicle, whose driver fled the scene.
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:26 p.m. on Monday along Route 901 in Cressona borough. Troopers said Ashley J. Frankenstein, 36, of Minersville, was driving a 2020 Jeep Renegade southbound too fast and struck a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Jessica K. Lawell, 34, of Minersville, in the rear.
Frankenstein was injured and taken to Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg. Lawell was not injured. The Jeep had to be towed.
Frankenstein was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
