A Boccie coach has asked Lehighton to dedicate Boccie courts in honor of a Special Olympics manager who recently passed.
Nik Millen, the head Boccie coach for Carbon County Special Olympics, made the request at Thursday’s borough council meeting.
Millen told council that he previously received permission to use the courts at Baer Memorial.
He said that Lisa Cooper, former manager for Special Olympics of Carbon County, died last month from COVID.
“She was a tremendous asset,” Millen said. “I’d like to propose we dedicate the Boccie courts (at Baer Memorial) to her.”
Council suggested to Millen that he draw up something and submit it to council for its review.
