Consulting contract approved

The consulting contract with two former state representatives was approved Wednesday.

At their Feb. 2 meeting, Schuylkill commissioners gave the firm Allen-Goodman & Associates a six-month $30,000 contract from Feb. 1 to July 31 In January 2021, the board approved the agreement. Commissioner George Halcovage Jr. did not attend that meeting. Former state Reps. Robert Allen and Neal Goodman work at the firm. No one was available when called Friday.

At the time, Commissioners’ Chairman Barron “Boots” Hetherington said the duo can secure funding for much-needed projects.

Dredging Sweet Arrow Lake, enhancing the airport facilities, deciding on a prerelease center for nonviolent offenders to obtain treatment for those with alcohol or mental health concerns and expanding broadband access are among the possible projects.
