The Lil' Colts from Hometown held a "Heroes Tribute" program prior to the start of their football game vs. Pleasant Valley on Sunday at the Marian High School field to remember all the victims, veterans and heroes of 9/11.

The event consisted of singing of National Anthem by Lou Mastroddi, a dove release, singing of patriotic songs and unveiling a large 9/11 memorial billboard.In addition to attendance by local fire departments, members of the Schuylkill Haven Army Reserve brought their humvee and rode around on horses. Volunteer, Barry Heckman, who spent 16 hours making the large memorial billboard, "said I did it for the kids and to teach them that we will never forget."Event organizer Kim Heckman said, "We do this to show our youth to always remember and honor both emergency responders and service members and all the sacrafices they do for us."Keri Cavenas, Lil' Colts cheerleader head coach, stated, "We teach our kids that we are all family and to always remember the sacrafices that terrible day", adding "it is important to teach our youth happened when they weren't alive."
