Palmerton Area School board
Palmerton Area School District’s board of directors on Tuesday night approved the following items:
• An Act 1 Resolution stating that the district will not increase taxes by more than its 2022-23 adjusted index of 4.6%, as determined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
• The 2022-23 proposed secondary budget for Carbon Career & Technical Institute, calling for receipts and expenditures in the amount of $9,050,721.
• The 2022-23 general operating budget of the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 for the fiscal year July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023.
• The Lehigh Carbon Community College operating budget and debt service/leases and capital budget for the fiscal year 2022-23.
• Alan Lonoconus as delegate to the Carbon County Tax Collection Committee.
• Jodi Frankelli as alternate delegate to the Carbon County Tax Collection Committee.
• Berkheimer Associates of Bangor as the delinquent tax collector of the 2021-22 school year per capita taxes effective Jan. 1, 2022. There is no fee assessed to the district for this service as the fees are assessed to the taxpayer.
• Exonerated tax collectors from the collection of the 2021-22 school year delinquent per capita taxes effective Jan. 1, 2022.
• A retroactive contract with Nick Romano for disc jockey services for the junior high winter dance on Dec. 17, 2021.
• A contract with Nick Romano for disc jockey services for junior high school dance on Feb. 11, 2022.
• Lindsey Armitage as reading specialist at S.S. Palmer Elementary at a salary of $53,250 effective upon the release from her current employer.
• Ryan Kish as an independent contractor to provide business manager services for the Palmerton Area School District at the rate of $60/hour, as needed, for the 2021-22 school year effective Dec. 27, 2021.
• Faro Hager as bus driver for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year effective Jan. 10, 2022.
• Carol Schnaiter as a substitute teacher, substitute instructional assistant and substitute secretary.
• Resignation of Amanda Kromer as food service worker.
• Hiring of Amanda Kromer as instructional assistant, S.S. Palmer Elementary, at the rate of $16.28 per hour.
• Resignation of Sonya Porter as instructional assistant.
• The 2022-23 program of studies for the Palmerton Area Senior High School.
• First reading of policies on health examinations/screenings, food allergy management, diabetes management, administration of medication/emergency care, possession/use of asthma inhalers and epinephrine auto-injectors, and automated external defibrillators.
• Approved the adoption of policies on public participation in board meetings, hazing, bullying/cyberbullying, dating violence and conflict of interest.
