Summit Hill Borough Council scheduled a special meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 24, to fill a vacant council seat.
The meeting is also for general purposes.
Anyone interested in serving on the council should submit a letter of interest by 4 p.m. Monday to borough Secretary-Treasurer Kira Steber at the borough hall.
The vacancy is for a two-year term. It exists because in the November general election, William O’Gurek Jr. was the top vote-getter for both a four-year term and a two-year term. He resigned from the two-year position to retain the four-year post.
The council is also looking for a volunteer to fill a vacancy on the Appeals Board.
Two seats, both of them three-year terms, became vacant this year. James Holmes was reappointed to one of those seats.
Seven seats expired on the borough’s Recreation Commission, but only two people expressed interest at being appointed to two-year seats.
They are Kathy Gieniec and Amber Zuber, both who had been serving on the commission. Gieniec is presently the chairperson.
There were several other reappointments made by the council to various boards.
They are:
• James Yusella, five-year term on the Summit Hill Water Authority.
• George Ruzicka, five-year term on the Planning Commission.
• Darry Cunfer, three-year term on the Zoning Hearing Board.
• Stanley J. Karnis, six-year term on the Civil Service Commission.
