Jim Thorpe Borough is set to vote tonight on an ordinance that will increase a variety of parking fines for violators.
According to borough officials, the cost of a parking ticket in a kiosk zone will increase to $20 when paid within 48 hours, $25 between 48 hours and five days of issuance and $30 between 6 and 10 days. The prior amounts were $10, $15 and $20.
Fines for all other prohibited parking violations are increasing from $20 to $30.
Jim Thorpe Police Chief Joe Schatz said the changes were recommended to council to bring the borough in line with other local municipalities as well as Carbon County.
Council meets Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall on East Tenth Street.
