Blue Mountain Resort opens 40th trail

Blue Mountain Resort near Palmerton opened its 40th trail Thursday.

Free Fall, Blue Mountain Resort’s 40th trail, can be accessed by the Comet Quad Chairlift, which also opened Thursday.

Free Fall utilizes new snow-making guns and LED lighting for premier day and night skiing.

The 7-acre, black-diamond trail is accessible by the Comet Quad Chairlift that connects into the mountain’s Paradise trail.

Blue Mountain has some of the longest trails in the state including 14 beginner, six intermediate, 11 expert, four expert only and five terrain parks.

Fully lit night skiing trails are open until 9 p.m., and skiing hours on weekdays start at 9 a.m. and at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sunday and specified winter holidays.
