A Carbon County veterinarian found guilty on 10 of 11 counts of animal cruelty owes $32,609.50 in fines and restitution.
Dr. Clyde "Renny" Shoop was found guilty by District Judge William Kissner following a summary trial with nearly seven hours of testimony Tuesday.The guilty counts against Shoop included the neglect of eight horses, a pig and a calf, on a Lower Towamensing Township farm he owns. His ex-wife Kim lives there.Earlier Tuesday, Kim Shoop pleaded guilty to cruelty of one of the horses and a turkey. She owes $2,140.78 in fines, court costs and restitution.Clyde Shoop operates Poco West Equine Animal Services in Jim Thorpe.The Pennsylvania State Board of Veterinary Medicine has temporarily suspended his license.
