Raccoon on road causes NJ man to crash

Raymond B. Third, 30, of Bridgeton, New Jersey, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 9:35 p.m. Dec. 22 on the Catawissa Road in Walker Township.

State police at the Frackville barracks said he was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus southbound when a raccoon entered the lane of travel. The driver swerved to avoid striking the raccoon and the car went off the road and struck an embankment causing it to overturn onto its roof.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
