The Morea Road in Mahanoy Township was shut down for several hours on Dec. 20 when a rig tipped and landed on the trailer portion of another rig.

State police at the Frackville barracks said the incident happened at 11:16 a.m. about 500 feet south of Route 54 at the top of the Vulcan hill.

Police said the rig was drilling on the east berm of the road when it began to tip in a westerly direction and landed on top of the trailer that was on the west berm at the Conoco Service Station.

The rig was eventually uprighted and the other rig was able to be driven from the scene, police said.
