State police at Lehighton reported investigating a crash on Monday at 8:21 a.m. at the intersection of Interchange Road (Route 209) and Route 248, in Franklin Township, Carbon County.
Troopers said Michele L. Minnich, 50, of Parryville, driving a 1998 Honda CRV, was attempting to turn left from 248 onto 209 and did not have the right-of-way, and the left-turn specific traffic light was not illuminated.
Marnie J. Cunningham, 33, of Jim Thorpe, driving a 2016 Toyota Rav4, was traveling straight and crossing the intersection of 209 and attempting to continue straight onto 248 eastbound. Her vehicle struck Minnich’s vehicle as it traveled through the intersection. Troopers said Minnich was not through the intersection as she attempted to make a left turn without proper clearance.
A passenger with Minnich, a 3-year-old boy from Coaldale, suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Luke’s Carbon Campus. No one else was injured. Both vehicles were towed.
Minnich was cited for the crash.
