Route 309 in West Penn Township was closed Friday afternoon due to a multi-vehicle crash. The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. about a mile north of the South Tamaqua intersection. The driver of a red van said he was leaving work, pulling out of a driveway and making a left turn to travel north when he was struck broadside by a southbound car. The van traveled across the roadway, coming to rest in the northbound berm with along with a sport utility vehicle. The car came to rest in the southbound lanes. West Penn Township police are investigating the incident.
