State police report on area crashes
State police reported on the following crashes involving area drivers:
• A Carbon County driver was injured in a one-vehicle crash that at 9:07 Nov. 12 along Route 443 (Clamtown Road), in East Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.
State police at Frackville said Heather L. Napoli, 44, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2011 Dodge Caliber westbound and said that she swerved her vehicle in an attempt to avoid hitting a deer on the road in front of her.
The Dodge went onto the berm and the undercarriage of the vehicle hit a dirt embankment.
Napoli was taken to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale for treatment of injuries.
The vehicle sustained minor damages and was driven from the scene.
New Ringgold Fire Company volunteers assisted at the scene.
• A Schuylkill County driver was involved in a crash in Luzerne County with another driver who was fleeing police from a previous crash.
State police at Hazleton said the crash occurred at 4:22 p.m. on Nov. 8 along Airport Road in Hazle Township. Troopers said a 58-year-old male from Shavertown, Luzerne County, who they declined to identify, was driving a 2005 Toyota 4-Runner was fleeing police from the scene of another crash in Butler Township, when his vehicle, traveling westbound at a high rate of speed and swerving all over the road, collided into a 2010 Acura MDX driven eastbound by Landy F. Feliz Feliz, 35, of Mahanoy City. Feliz Feliz and his passengers, two girls, ages 11 and 6, suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Both vehicles had to be towed.
The male suspect was taken into custody.
• A Carbon County driver was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Lehigh County. State police at Bethlehem said the crash occurred at 4:34 p.m. on Nov. 3 along Route 873 in North Whitehall Township.
Troopers identified the drivers involved as Vickie L. Bates, 66, of Schnecksville, and Crist Hernandez-Bittner, 34, of Lehighton; with passengers Tyrone T. Brown, 31, and a 2-year-old girl of Lehighton.
Troopers did not release any details of the crash but noted there were no injuries.
