The cause of the Sunday house fire in Coaldale has been ruled accidental.

Coaldale Fire Chief Steve Polischak didn’t elaborate on the origin of the accidental fire. He also didn’t have a damage estimate.

The second-alarm fire at 203 lower Greenwood St., a 2½-story duplex home, left seven people and several pets homeless. The homeowners did not have insurance.

The call came into the Schuylkill County Communications Center at 4:51 p.m. It was quickly upgraded to a working structure fire, which was extinguished in about 30 minutes.

A home at 205 Lower Greenwood St., which is being renovated, has smoke damage.

Firefighters from Schuylkill and Carbon County responded.
