The body of a Bucks County man who went missing while hiking on the Appalachian Trail was found Thursday afternoon.

His body was found at 12:30 p.m. along the Appalachian Trail in Lynn Township.

The body was found deceased in the area of Bear Rocks, approximately 30 feet down an embankment. The National Park Service assisted with the recovery.

Troopers said on Friday Michael William Kaiser, 56, of Newportville, entered the Appalachian Trail at Route 309 in Lynn Township, Lehigh County, at an unknown time.

On Saturday Kaiser was in communication via cellphone to his brother in which he took a picture of the terrain similar to Bake Oven Knob but has not been heard from since. On Tuesday his brother reported him missing to the Bristol Township Police Department in Bucks County.

On Wednesday troopers located Kaiser’s Ford F-150 pickup in the vicinity of Bake Oven Road. A large number of troopers from Fogelsville, Bethlehem, Frackville and Lehighton barracks were canvassing the woods starting Thursday morning in an attempt to locate Kaiser.

Cetronia Ambulance, Lehigh County Special Operations, New Tripoli Fire Department and the National Park Service assisted in the search.
