American Primitive

Sunday worship service is at 10:30 a.m. at American Primitive Methodist Church. The service is available at www.tamaquachurch.org and www.facebook.com/PMChurchTamaqua.

There will be no Sunday school until further notice.

Hope in the Mountains Nar-Anon Family Group meets at 57 Hunter St. If you have questions or are interested in attending, contact Mark at 570-952-5098.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church, Lewistown Valley.

Andreas VFW

Andreas VFW Post 5069 will be holding a Veterans Day breakfast at the Mason Jar Restaurant on Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. Paid members and one guest are invited.

Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on Nov. 8 with 49 members in attendance. The meeting was opened with the reading “Signs of Autumn.”

The group welcomed back Larry Bowee. November birthdays celebrated: Doris Brobst, Muriel Wehr, Jean Machamer, John Fredericks, Mama and John Taylor.

Veterans honored for their service include: Robert Neifert, Kim Neifert, Pat Fredericks and Fred Herb.

A Thanksgiving platter and towel set were chanced off and won by Lorraine Lupcho and Thanksgiving towels and hotpads were won by Maryann Laughlin. Entertainment was provided by Gloria Gerhard’s granddaughter, Kaitlyn Sweeney Prentiss.

The group will attend Grier City Sunday School church service on Nov. 13 with a meal after.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 1 p.m. at Christ Church, Barnesville. Anyone 55 or older is invited to attend.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met at the Coaldale Complex on Nov. 4 with 34 members in attendance. The meeting was opened with the reading “Autumn.” A moment of silence was observed for Pat Regalis.

The group Christmas party will be held at the Coaldale Complex. No date has been set.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Garden Club

The Lewistown Valley Garden Club will hold its November meeting on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in Zion Church Memorial Hall, Lewistown Valley. Please note the date as meetings are normally held on the fourth Tuesday of each month but will be earlier due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Program will be crafts under the direction of Louise Flexer; arrangement to be judged will have a patriotic theme with fresh or dried flowers; specimen to be judged is chrysanthemum or aster.

Pumpkin roll sale

St. John Lutheran Church, Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua is holding a pumpkin roll sale for Thanksgiving. Orders are due by Sunday. To order or for more information, 570-640-5261. Pickup will be Nov. 21, 3-5 p.m.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school class is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and the evening service at 6:30 p.m. will be a patriotic concert by the community choir. Call 570-668-9111 for more information.

Upcoming events include Wednesday evening prayer meeting at 7 p.m. and Annual Harvest Home presentation on Nov 21. Please have nonperishable food at the church by Nov 20 or bring along on Nov. 21.
