Garden of Giving report

As the Garden of Giving comes to a close after another productive summer, most activities ended on Nov. 1.

The Garden would like to congratulate two young men for their outstanding work on the play area, Scouts Max Valence and Max Barone.

The two were awarded their Eagle Scout badges for the completion of four sturdy benches and raised beds. The sturdy benches will provide a nice resting place for the gardeners, after working on the beds.

Thanks also go out to the DEP, for the truck; for carpenter Bill Campbell, the Monroe Bar Association, and all the volunteers who worked so diligently all summer in the gardens. A very big thank you goes to Linda Snyder’s Apple Orchard for the delicious apples which volunteers picked for families in need.

During the dormant winter months, the board will continue to encourage volunteers to fill empty positions. Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, at 6:30 p.m. at the ReMax office on Route 115 in Effort.

Contact the Garden by phone at 570-402-1282 or email at GardenOfGiving1@gmail.com. The Garden is located at 2556 Rising Hill Drive, off Route 715 in McMichaels.
