A Tamaqua man is facing charges of simple assault and harassment - physical contact.

Borough police were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Union St., on Oct. 16 at 7:03 p.m. for a domestic incident. On scene a woman told police that Ryan Michael Thorne, 45, punched her in the face and threw her to the ground. Police observed marks on the inside of the woman’s lip where she was struck.

Thorne was inside the residence and police told him he would be charged.
