The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced the menu for the week of Nov. 15-19 is:

Monday: No meal

Tuesday: Stuffed cabbage, buttered noodles, cauliflower and peas, fruited yogurt or barbecue chicken salad

Wednesday: Chicken, red potatoes, lemon broccoli, pudding or Reuben sandwich

Thursday: Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, fruit cocktail or turkey Cobb salad

Friday: Sweet and sour chicken, brown rice, stir fry vegetables, orange or Cuban sandwich

The center also announced upcoming events: Bingo on Nov. 15 at 10:45 a.m.; Speaker Rachael Wydra from the PA Department of Health on Nov. 16 at 11 a.m.; Birthday Bingo on Nov. 17 at 10:45 a.m.; Speaker Angelo Jordan from Carbon County Veterans Affairs on Nov. 18 at 11 a.m.; Movie and Popcorn on Nov. 19 at 10 a.m.

Game Day on Nov. 22 at 10 a.m.; Bingo on Nov. 23 at 10:45; Po-Keeno on Nov. 24 at 11 a.m.; center closed on Nov. 25 and 26.

Summit Hill fall cleanup

Summit Hill will host its annual fall cleanup.

On Nov. 20, the east side of town along with Knepper’s Trailer Court and East and West White Bear Drive will be picked up.

On Dec. 4, the west side of town along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop Road will be picked up.

Officials remind residents that all items for the pickup should be placed out the night before. Items to be picked up include: no more than four tires, tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves.

All items shall have all chemicals removed and doors taken off. Freon must be removed from refrigerators, air conditioners etc. and tagged or they will not take them. In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.

No electronics such as televisions, computers or computer parts will be picked up during the fall cleanup.

Meed’s Memorial

Thanksgiving Dinner

Meed’s Memorial United Methodist Church, Nesquehoning will hold its free Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 21. The dinners will be takeout only and reservations must be made. The pickup times will be 3 and 5 p.m.

Reservations can be made by calling the church at 570-669-9212 and leaving a clear message with a return phone number. When placing your order please give the number of dinners and how many of them are white or dark meat.
