NW Lehigh receives Stop the Bleed emergency trauma kits

Northwestern Lehigh School District was the recipient of five Stop the Bleed emergency trauma kits.

Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Department of Public Safety & Emergency Operations, in conjunction with Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital, recently donated the kits to the district’s buildings.

“LVHN was able to secure funding for the kits, as well as provided educational demonstrations and instruction on the proper use of the kits to our staff, said Northwestern Lehigh Superintendent Jennifer Holman.

Stop the Bleed is a national trauma initiative that aims to train members of the community how to control bleeding in the event of a life-threatening emergency, Holman said.

“LVHN is also offering the training, free of charge, to members of our community,” she said. “This one-hour course will teach community members and organizations how to act as an immediate responder and control bleeding through the use of direct pressure application, wound packing and tourniquet use.”

Holman said anyone interested may sign up for an upcoming Stop the Bleed at LVHN.org/STOPTHEBLEED.
