October 27, 1984 - Mike Stianche and Bob Zanders both score two touchdowns to power Jim Thorpe to a 35-12 victory over Freeland. Stianche’s two scores come on the ground, while Zanders reaches the end zone twice on TD passes. Zanders gets the Olympians on the board first when he snares a 51-yard strike from Gino Duffy, and caps the day’s scoring with a 17-yard TD reception thrown by John Searfoss. Stianche crosses the goal line on runs of one and nine yards. The winners, coached by Art Guth, also receive 99 yards rushing and a TD from his son, Art Guth. The JT defense forces seven turnovers, including a pair of fumble recoveries by Kyle Sheckler.
